Some time around the Gino Torretta era, I quit caring about the Heisman. Since then, my reaction has been, “Oh, was that today?”
blank stare…..at the mess of tissues surrounding the pit!!
TB,
When I first saw this headline, I thought you had let Bradford write a fantasy blog wherein he, remembering fondly the MS Press article about him being hired as the basketball coach for Sacred Heart and during which in his interview for that prestigious position he represented that that institution that he had lettered in football at USM (I am still not sure how that, if it would have been true, would have qualified him to coach basketball), dared to dream of being the first Heisman winner from USM. While the story of the girls’ team is for another day, let the record reflect that Bradford “coached” the boys’ team to a perfect 0-25 record.
MD – your memory of events are littered with errors as usual. It was the Resurrection school paper. I played football AND basketball at USM. The boys were 0-24. But I bet Heisman Bradford never tossed a no hit 18 strikeout game
Ant team would be lucky to have Sweet as their coach.
especially Team smi-LY
The article mentioned above was the second best newspaper article ever about Brad. The first was one covering the Cunningham family’s trip to the Olympics in Atlanta. On the front page was a photo of a smiling Brad, and the caption underneath it stated “Gretchen Cunningham”. I saved that article and still have it somewhere.
THAT is true
The Big 12 is King. As is Sweet.
What were the odd’s that Bradford was going
to win? The real question should be did he
bet on himself through someone else.Hmmm
