Those photos were from a guy who wrote a book on the history of Tulane football.

Does the win total really surprise you? Chris Scelfo was there for 8 years which I think was the longest tenure of any coach since the 40's or 50's. We do have a nice list of coaches who left for greener patures, Larry Smith, Lindy Infante, Mack Brown, Tommy Bowden, and Rich Rodriguez (we offered the job to Scelfo over Rich Rod after Bowden left)

Those are some deep archive photos face. The guys in that first photo were only about 5'2". according to another one, your winningest coach has a total of a mere 59 wins?? impressive.

TB....thanks for posting the ND/Ole Miss reference....i was in the stands as a freshman having spent the days of the week preceding the game as a member of the scout team...helping jim carmody get the defensive line ready for the irish....cool thing is a couple of those guys on the defense got recognized nationally for their performances during the game....i see many of those players when i return to oxford for rebel football games....that whole senior bunch that year rarely won many games over their five year stint at ole miss....many of them returned that 5th year just to get a chance to play in that nd game.....they had been big losers even in their freshman games....now they are only remembered for beating notre dame.....good story of perserverance....thanks again...still have my game program

I found the letter. It was posted on the Tulane forum along with a bunch of old photos. Scroll down to the yellowed piece of paper and see that Tulane was trying to save a buck as far back as the 1910's.

All of that will be featured in one way or another.

Ya'll should really watch that ND video, it almost makes you wanna be a fan. I recall bits and pieces of watching that game as a naive youngster and thinking I might like ND. My Dad probably put up with it for a day since they were playing USC, but it was not long after that I was trained to hate them, in the grand southern tradition.

And I figured seeing that grainy scoreboard on the preview pane might ease a little Rebel pain today, especially for Q, who I think was in Jackson that year with the Johnnies.
